The Mercedes Museum is also in Stuttgart. What a place! The two automotive giants seem to be trying to out-do each other in building glorious monuments to themselves. So much the better... :) The building itself here is truly impressive. The lifts are pure art deco and wouldn't look out of place in a science fiction movie. They have a projector mounted on top that projects black and white images onto the concrete wall alongside it as the lift goes up and down. The AMG orange staircases and the plinths with the concept cars mounted on them are part of an architectural experience that is almost as interesting as the cars themselves. One of the standouts for us was the time line of historical world events that meanders it's way through out the chronologically ordered exhibits. Aside from being interesting in itself it helped put the cars in persepective.

One of the most famous racers of all time with it's bespoke car carrier. Only three of the carriers were made and it's arguably more interesting than the car it carries!

Some of these cars make me ache for the golden age of motoring. A time before stifling legislation made cars as monotonous as a can of beans. Look at these curves and their elegant proportions. Gorgeous.
