We only had one and a half days in Agra. It was over a week ago now as I write this. It's hard to say anything about the Taj that isn't obvious from looking at it. It's incredibly photogenic and lives up to all it's hyperbole. I would certainly recommend reading about some of the intricacies of it's architecture and proportions before visiting to enhance you enjoyment. After nearly four weeks without seeing almost anything that I would call beautiful it was breathtaking.
Sadly there was an official inside the Taj who had a police whistle and used it incessantly. Yep. The two cenotaphs for the emperor sit under the dome with wonderfully amplifying acoustics. A place of beauty and peace made centuries ago for the deceased. There is a sign asking people to be quiet and respectful and yet there is a guard blowing a whistle almost constantly trying to shuffle people on so they don't stay to long I guess. But why? It's the off-season and there is plenty of space for everyone. It is typical of India to show this lack of civility and subtlety for no reason.
